Madam,
I would like to say how much I agree with Allan Phillips of New Quay in your excellent letters page (‘Outcome was predetermined’, 16 November). I do believe that decisions taken by the council or the church are then set in stone and it is becoming rare that decisions are overturned.
Two prime examples spring to mind. Despite spirited and peaceful demonstrations, Bodlondeb care home is to be closed. The second example is the excellent church, St Winefride. The overwhelming support of the local community to keep the church open has been ignored. My fervent hope is that the church building can be converted into sheltered housing, or used for young single people. Above all the building must stay as it is, a wonderful example of Welsh architecture and is a credit to the town of Aberystwyth.
Yours etc,
Eric Payne, Aberystwyth Holiday Village, Penparcau Road, Aberystwyth.
