Madam,
May I, through your letters page, ask a simple question. Who in their wisdom decided that a) it was necessary and b) that it was the appropriate time to mow the profusion of Ox eye daises and other wild flowers growing on the old railway embankments on the way into Lampeter?
Not only have these flowers been destroyed before they could set seed, but what was a cheerful and uplifting sight for people entering and leaving town has been reduced to two dull patches of rotting dead vegetation.
Unseasonal mowing of roadside verges and banks where vegetation interferes with safe driving is understandable, but the mowing referred to above was totally unnecessary and can only be described as thoughtless.
Yours etc, Wieslaw Gdula, Tal-y-fan Fach, Cellan, Lampeter.
