A PENPARCAU mum has paid tribute to her “happy-go-lucky” son who died in a car crash at the weekend.
Joe Hulston, 19, died after his silver Ford Fiesta was involved in a crash on the B4353 at Llancynfelyn, between Tre’r-ddôl and Ynyslas, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A security guard, Mr Hulston was on his way to work at an abattoir in Bangor when he crashed his car in what police believe was a single-vehicle incident.
His mum Mandy said her family has been left “devastated” by the death of her “quiet and caring” son.
Mrs Hulston said: “Joe was a happy-go-lucky young man. Quiet and caring, his cheeky grin will be missed.
“We are all devastated by his tragic death whilst driving to work early Saturday morning.
“Thank you to family, friends and all who have helped us through this difficult time, but we ask for compassion while Dyfed-Powys Police complete their enquiries into this tragic accident.”
An online fund-raising page has been launched for the former Penglais pupil, which says that Mrs Hulston has already had to return to work so she can raise money for his funeral.
