A GROUP of Aberdaron villagers and friends have braved the January seas to raise money for new play equipment.

They hope to raise enough money to buy a new slide for the playing field.

A total of £340 was raised.

The playing fields at Aberdaron have had to be closed again this month due to the threat of more land-slide from the property which sits above, following the very wet weather over the past months.

This is not the first time the fields have had to be closed and it leaves the youngsters of Aberdaron with nowhere to go and play safely outside in the village.

It is hoped that, come spring, the playing fields can be safely reopened.

For some of the dippers it was the second time in a very short space of time that they braved the waters, as a few of them had also taken part in the villages annual Boxing Day Dip to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance.
