AN award-winning Aberystwyth film director has seen her latest project shortlisted as part of a Wales-wide film scheme.
Prano Bailey-Bond, who is from Penuwch, is the director of Crazy Bitch, which is one of 10 films shortlisted by Ffilm Cymru’s Cinematic scheme, with three of the films being picked to go through to development.
The film, which sees Prano team up with writer Emma Millions and producer Helen Jones, sees a woman’s unexpected pregnancy triggering memories of a past life that ended in violence.
After being shortlisted, the team will go into development phase and be given training into how to progress the work and consider the market opportunities for the film with support offered by industry experts including producers, directors and distribution experts.
Prano, a former volunteer at Aberystwyth Arts Centre who returned during the Abertoir Film Festival to show her award-winning short film NASTY, said the team were delighted to have been named on the shortlist of ten films and said training and talks already held had been a real help already.
She said: “We’re thrilled to have a project selected for Cinematic and to be supported by Ffilm Cymru Wales.
“This week we have attended two days of industry talks and training in Cardiff which has been a really interesting and helpful start to the scheme.
“Our film is a psychological horror titled Crazy Bitch and explores the story of a woman haunted by memories of a past life violently ended at the hands of psychiatric doctors.
“I’m excited to be working on the film with writer Emma Millions and producer Helen Jones of Silver Salt Films.
“We’re looking forward to the next stages of development and getting our teeth into this exciting project.”
