Madam,
It is now over 10 years since closure of Harlech Pool was threatened.
However, after a big struggle, Gwynedd Council finally handed the pool over to the community and, thanks to a massive campaign and initial grant funding, the company Harlech Ardudwy Leisure was formed.
A dedicated group of very hard-working volunteers have managed to keep the pool, cafè and climbing wall open ever since, but it is not true that Gwynedd Council “ensures the same level of service for Gwynedd residents” throughout the county.
The leisure centre in Harlech is excluded from Byw’n Iach and is supported mainly by the local community, and the visitors for whom it provides essential services, rain or shine.
However, despite its very limited budget, Harlech Ardudwy Leisure still manages to “offer a high level of service from the welcoming staff”.
Yours etc, Rosy Berry, Llanfair.
