Family and friends of an Aberystwyth woman who passed away after battling cancer will host a fundraiser in her memory.
Gail Davies sadly passed away in October last year aged 56, after fighting cancer for around seven years.
Her husband Paul and friends have arranged a fundraising disco at Aberystwyth Football Club on Saturday, 10 August, with Paul saying it was a way to raise money and “give a little bit back” to thank Bronglais Hospital’s oncology ward and the staff for treating Gail, as well as pay tribute to Gail.
He said: “It’s a tribute to Gail. She died last October. She had cancer for seven or eight years.
“We raised this idea for the past few months to repay the ward a bit for the treatment they provided.
“They’ve been absolutely fantastic. My mother had cancer also and they were fantastic with her too. It’s very poignant to me.
“We’re just trying to give a little bit back.”
Paul said that most people will have either battled cancer or know someone who fought it and said he hoped people would support the fundraiser as a way to both raise vital funds and to pay tribute to Gail.
Tickets for the fundraiser, which cost £5, are being sold now by organisers. You can get tickets from Paul by phoning 07811 116407, but tickets can also be bought on the door.
Doors will open for the fundraiser at 8pm.
