THE Cambrian News has teamed up with AberCycleFest to offer readers an entry discount to the 2018 Welsh Wild West sportive.
Taking place on Sunday, 27 May, as part of the week-long festival of cycling, the Wild West ride gives local cyclists and visitors the chance to experience Ceredigion’s best road cycling terrain, in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
AberCycleFest is now in its ninth year, and continues to go from strength to strength despite the loss of the Tour Series professional race.
The sportive event is non-competitive and entrants will have a choice of four distances to suit their personal target and fitness level.
Starting with the Corrach (Dwarf) at 28 miles; the Diafol (Devil) at 44 miles; the Mynach (Monk) at 62 miles; and finally the Cawr (Giant) at 106 miles, the Welsh Wild West covers areas of outstanding beauty.
This includes the coastal road overlooking the Dyfi estuary to the north, the Nant y Moch reservoir, Devils Bridge and the Hafod Arch, followed by the old mining valley below Pontrhydygroes, including Lisburne with its famous waterwheel.
From here the experienced or the brave will head south of the county to take in Tregaron and Lampeter and return over Tychrug for the 106-mile ride. The start and finish is at Aberystwyth Bandstand where a hot meal and goody bag awaits each finisher and all marshals.
• Cambrian News readers can enter the voucher code ‘CAMBRIAN20’ at checkout to receive 20 per cent off the entry fee.
The standard entry fee is £35 for the three longer rides and £30 for the 26-mile Corrach ride.
The offer is valid from until to 31 January.
