Madam,
On 15 July, Keith and Jill Whitehead ran a coffee morning in the Guildhall in Cardigan to raise money for the Royal Agricultural Beneveloent Institution (RABI) who help farming families past and present in financial difficulty.
An excellent time was had by all in the Guildhall. Part of the tradition of hosting the coffee morning is to take coffee and raffle tickets around to the shops in Cardigan and I was lucky to be asked to assist in this.
I would be the first to admit that I rarely shop in Cardigan, popping in for specific items. However, as I visited the shops on Saturday morning, under no time pressures with my eyes open, I was struck by how diverse the shopping opportunities in Cardigan are; butchery, bakery, crafts, cookware, hair and beauty, home decor, jewellery, keycutting, nail art, toys, whole-foods and vets, to name but a few. It was noticeable in all the shops I visited what superb care and attention was being taken of the customers visiting the shops.
The whole town had a warm and friendly feel on a rather dreary damp Saturday and the generosity shown towards us by all the shopkeepers was really humbling and greatly appreciated.
From now on I will be making sure I use as many of the facilities as I can in Cardigan and would like to urge others to support this kind-hearted, bustling market town as much as they possibly can.
Thank you Cardigan - diolch yn fawr iawn!
Yours etc,
Frances Jones, Chairman, R.A.B.I. Ceredigion Committee.
