The Diwali Bollywood charity night Saturday, 21 October at the Borth Community Hall witnessed this year’s Diwali celebrations by the Aberystwyth residents.

The event was organised by the members of the Aberystwyth Hindu Cultural Society (AHCS).

The evening was filled with diverse and stunning cultural programs.

The hall was beautifully adorned with Diwali lights and ethnic decorations.

The evening started with a presentation on Diwali and its roots by two young children.

After that, there were classical and contemporary Indian and Nepalese dance acts with the dancers in their traditional costumes in vibrant colours.

And, the singers sang classical and contemporary songs in different languages including Welsh, as the event also promoted cultural exchange. The performers ranged from children to adults.

The food served was Indian cuisine.

Several local residents came to join the celebrations and enjoyed the evening whole heartedly.

The audience also included representatives from RNLI, as the event also served as a fund-raiser for them.

The RNLI representative spoke about the activities of RNLI and played an audio-visual clip.

There was also a raffle to raise the money.

The children participated in painting as the evening started and later on sat in the audience with their families.

The event culminated with the young performers being recognised and an open dance for all to groove and jive.
