Madam,

I would like to thank the Cambrian News for your article ‘Flooding concerns cause delay to Aldi store plan’ (10 October).

The removal of the old Kwik Save store and Cambrian Garage, left with boarding around the site to make it tidy and safe, was well-intentioned. So, too, now the old Arriva bus depot and old coal shop. But this has gone on for years and what an expanse of prime development land is left on a main drive into town.

Meanwhile, across the way, development has proceeded, with Tai Ceredigion flats at Aberystwyth Football Club.

Does the delay to Aldi mean we will have a large derelict piece of land, close to the town centre, losing the potential for many retail jobs and construction work in the future?

Yours etc, Cllr Mair Benjamin, Maesyrafon, Aberystwyth.
