THE FIRST concert of 2016 will be a piano recital by Kausikan Rajeshkumar (right) in Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor at 7.30pm on Friday, 8 January. London-born of a Sri Lankan family, 25-year-old Kausikan is pursuing a highly successful career following graduation from Cambridge with first-class honours, and having reached the final round of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition in 2006 and 2008. Audiences love his ease and fluency. Recent engagements include recitals at the Royal Festival Hall and the Purcell Room, appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a recital tour in Spain and concerts in Weimar, Germany. Kausikan’s programme for Dolgellau will included music by Scarlatti, Chopin, Scriabin and Villa-Lobos.

Pantomime

PANTOMIME lovers are in for a treat this year in Dolgellau as the Dolgellau Amateur Dramatic Society brings Sleeping Beauty to Theatr Fach.The panto, by Vaughan Davies, will be performed on 8-10 January and 15-16, and will feature all the usual suspects, along with some new faces, Millie Chambers (pictured, far right) and Steffan Chambers, both local college students who are making their debuts with DADS.
