DOLGELLAU’S ‘three weeks of love’ campaign continues with a sweet treats for sweethearts this weekend.

In a period encompassing St Dwynwen’s Day and St Valentine’s Day, Dolgellau has been embracing the season of love and goodwill.

There have been numerous cake sales, coffee mornings, competitions and over 40 businesses dressing their windows to fit the romantic theme.

It is all for a good cause too with money raised at a series of events going to support Welsh Hearts, Wales’ leading heart charity.

The next big event takes place on Saturday (4 February) at Y Sospan where everyone is invited to take part in a ‘Honey Bun’ competition.

A spokesperson for ‘Love Dolgellau’, who are helping coordinate the event, said: “Make your honey buns and bring them to Y Sospan on Saturday 4 February by 9.30am on a plate ready to be judged by Maggie & Evan Roberts.

“The general public may have left over buns for a contribution to Welsh Hearts.

“There are three categories: 16 and under, adults and professional.

“There is a recipe in Elliw Gwawr’s Paned a Chacen if you’re stuck! Get baking!”

Town councillor and Love Dolgellau proponent, Amanda Morgan is keen to get as many people involved as possible.

“We really want a whole range of people, we want everyone to be involved,” she told the Cambrian News.

“It’s been a lovely atmosphere in town lately and the town has looked so nice and cheerful, it’s going really well.

“I urge everyone of any age to get baking and join in the fun.”

People can see the whole list of intimate events on the ‘Love Dolgellau Caru Dolgellau’ Facebook page.

The proceedings will draw to a close on Friday, 17 February at Dylanwad with a final ‘speed dating/wine tasting’ evening.

Cllr Morgan finished: “It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun for everyone involved.

“I understand they need more men to sign up though, we need more men who like to drink wine in Dolgellau by the sounds of it!”
