A LLANRHYSTUD florist has described the “emotional and exciting” moment he found out his team had won gold at the Chelsea Flower Show.
It was reported in the Cambrian News last month that Donald Morgan, owner of Blodau’r Bedol florists, was chosen out of 20,000 people to arrange the main exhibition of the National Flower Arranging Society of Great Britain at the world Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show between 24 and 28 May.
Mr Morgan, who is also a Llanrhystud community councillor and a governor at Ysgol Myfenydd, told the Cambrian News it was a “great achievement” to have won top prize and to also have been in contention for overall best exhibition in the world-leading show.
“It went very well but it was very hard work as you can expect — some days we worked for 18 hours,” Mr Morgan said this week. “But it was a great success walking in Tuesday morning after being judged on Monday to see we had won a gold medal — it was quite emotional and exciting.
