Our local Spar Shop is closing after a long service to Harlech locals. Joy has given devoted service for over 25 years.

Through bad weather and good, she has served the people of Harlech, making sure we get our daily fresh bread among other essentials. She will be sorely missed. We all thank the staff of our local Spar for all their devotion to serving us daily.

• Dolgellau losing out on forward planning for jobs and homes, highlighted in last week’s Cambrian News (28 November) is in my opinion totally wrong.

Here we have a unique town, built with total regard for how it looks. The layout for the town is quite unusual, almost pointing to the centre, with businesses being highlighted, and there is lots of room for more businesses to thrive.

If any town is worthy of investment it is this one.

This town is the perfect town to work and live, and deserves consideration for future development in all aspects.
