THE Dyfi Valley’s development trust will discuss its activities and plans at its annual meeting on Tuesday.
Ecodyfi is a locally controlled bilingual organisation that has been fostering and supporting a greener economy and community since 1998.
It is managed by a board of local people, and Ecodyfi is inviting readers to nominate themselves to join the board, as well as to attend the meeting.
The meeting will hear that Ecodyfi’s finances are healthy and that its influence spreads far beyond the Dyfi Valley.
One example is UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves. During the forum that will follow the short AGM, young people from the area will talk about their experience of attending the UNESCO Youth Forum held in Italy this autumn.
The other guest will be Liz Lewis-Reddy of Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust.
She will explain how their new project on and around Pumlumon intends to develop new ways of getting investment into the area, and developing collaborations, so local landowners and communities can manage their land in a way that benefits the local community, the local economy and nature.
Ecodyfi co-chair Allan Wynne Jones said: “Exploring how our local economy can benefit from looking after those precious cultural and environmental resources that we all depend on is increasingly important. I look forward to hearing people’s ideas about how Ecodyfi can do this even more effectively.”
The AGM is open to all and will start at 7.30pm on 28 November at Machynlleth Bowling Club.
