Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s Pwllheli site is celebrating 25 years since its first learners qualified in the summer of 1994.

The ‘Pwllheli 25’ celebrations kicked off with the cutting of a celebratory cake at the annual prizegiving ceremony in Pwllheli last Wednesday and continued on Wednesday, 3 July, with an open evening at the campus featuring an exhibition of old photographs and refreshments.

Later in the summer, a reception will be held at the National Eisteddfod in Llanrwst on 6 August (3-5pm), where a special commemorative book of photos and memories will be launched to celebrate the important milestone.

Aled Jones-Griffith, principal of Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor said: “The quarter century at Pwllheli is a very important milestone for us.

“That’s 25 cohorts of Ll?n and Eifionydd’s bright young people who have been able to receive further education within a college environment where such provision was not previously available.

“These people have since gone on to leave their mark on the world; locally, nationally and internationally.

“Our prestigious community of alumni include poets, singers, engineers, broadcasters, scientists and many more, proving that world-class education is available in a rural corner of Wales. Likewise, just as crucially, the Pwllheli site has produced excellent graduates from our Health and Social Care and Childcare courses who are now fulfilling vital roles in our communities.”
