A CONSULTATION into the future of the historic Welsh-language halls at Aberystwyth university has begun.
The consultation into mooted plans for the complete renovation and reopening of Pantycelyn Halls “within four years” began last Wednesday with a questionnaire that will run until the end of November.
The consultation follows the formation of a Pantycelyn Project Board earlier this year after vehement protests from students over fresh university plans to close Pantycelyn Halls.
It led to the university performing a U-turn, with the institution’s council resolving to “reopen Pantycelyn within four years to provide fit-for-the-future Welsh medium accommodation and social spaces” despite fears over the cost of the project which initially led to its planned closure.
The final report, with a “clear, costed design for Welsh medium accommodation at Pantycelyn, including a funding strategy”, will also be brought to council for consideration, the university said.
The questionnaire can be found online at www.snapsurveys.com/wh/s.asp?k=144714907590.
It is also possible to contribute to the consultation by submitting general comments by email to [email protected], or by phone on 07805 265158.
