A NEW extension at Cylch Meithrin Llangeitho has been officially opened.

It was mainly funded through a council community grant and money from the National Lottery.

The new extension, opened by Ceredigion County Council chairman Cllr Hag Harris, will allow them to significantly improve their facilities and also increase the number of childcare places available.

The extension was funded through a combination of local fundraising contributions and events as well as a £15,000 Council Community Grant and a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery.

Other contributions include £400 from Mudiad Meithrin, £150 from Llangeitho Community Council and £4,800 was raised by Cylch Meithrin Llangeitho itself.

Cllr Catrin Miles, the Cabinet member responsible for learning services, said: “Cylch Meithrin Llangeitho has been able to make very effective use of the Council’s Community Grant and other funding to make a valuable addition to their Cylch. I’m sure the youngsters will be excited to see the new extension and will benefit greatly from the extra space.”

Graham Parker, chairman of Cylch Meithrin Llangeitho, said: “This has been a great example of local fundraising being supported by Ceredigion Council Community Grants and the National Lottery, and we are very grateful to everyone who has contributed towards our extension fund.

“This will deliver a tremendous benefit to the local community by improving facilities for the children, increasing the number of childcare places available for parents and also increasing local employment opportunities.”
