AN ABERYSTWYTH family have spoken of the benefits of learning together as part of the Welsh Government’s Education Begins at Home campaign.
Between 17 October and 1 November, the UK-wide Family Learning Festival has taken place as part of the campaign.
Jo Hollowood (pictured with 10-year-old Sophia) and husband Rolant, parents to 13-year-old Catrin and 10-year-old Sophia, have fully embraced learning together and say they are reaping the benefits as a family.
Jo said: “We find learning as a family hugely beneficial both in terms of how it brings us closer together as a family, and how it benefits the girls individually and in the development of their education.
“We regularly send the girls to the local shop with a short shopping list to get them used to handling money and working out the correct change.
“And most recently, for Sophia’s 10th birthday party, we gave her a set amount of money and helped her work out how many friends she could afford to invite to join her on her birthday day out.”
