AN ALL-WEATHER play park will be installed for children in a Meirionnydd village.

North Wales Police and Community Trust funding has been given to support a community project in Llanuwchlyn, near Bala, to repair the children’s play area.

Local PCSOs will support the project as they regularly visit the Cylch Meithrin to educate children about ‘people who help us’ and road safety. It is hoped that a highly visible uniformed presence in the area will promote effect­ive partnerships with the local community.

PACT funding will go towards play equipment such as a sand and water pit, play parachute, junior slide and playhouse.

As part of the project, a canopy will be installed to allow­ the children to learn and play whatever the weather.

There will be raised beds to teach children about growing vegetables and fruit, a new shed with a water butt, blackboards to encourage writing as well as role play areas­ such as a mud kitchen and playhouse.

There will also be artificial grass on the ground to ensure a safe surface for the whole area.

PCSO Lona Davenport said: “We are happy to be able to support this community project as it will provide a safe and secure environment for young children to learn and play.

“We hope that our presence in the area will build trust and reassurance to local residents and the young people in the area will not feel intimidated by police officers and PCSOs.”
