A Barmouth nursery has received the thumbs up from inspectors following a glowing report.

Cylch Meithrin y Tonnau, based at the town’s leisure centre, was rated “good” by inspectors from Estyn and Care Inspectorate Wales for all five of the rating criteria in a report released this week.

Inspectors visited the Welsh-language nursery in January and rated the setting – which has places for 28 children from two to four-years-old – ‘good’ in wellbeing, care and development, teaching and assessment; environment; and leadership and management.

The report found that “practitioners have a lovely relationship with the children” at the setting.

“Each practitioner has formed positive relationships with the children,” inspectors said.

“They speak to the children tenderly and treat them with care and respect.

“Practitioners use effective strategies to promote positive behaviour.”

The report also found that that practitioners “prioritise child safety and make sure that there are measures in place to ensure that any potential risk is monitored and controlled effectively”.
