ABERYSTWYTH library has added to its foreign language collection and now holds books in Arabic.

Rose Bewick and Hannah Rounding from the British Red Cross and Barbara Lindsay, a support volunteer for Aberaid, recognised that it would support the local Syrian families to have access to books in their own language, and the library was able to offer space for the collection.

Publishers Harper Collins, Medina Publishing and Al Saqi Books were only too pleased to donate.

Members of the wider Arabic speaking community have also donated books, and Aberaid gave a financial donation to buy some. The books, although based in Aberystwyth library, will be available to the Arabic-speaking community throughout Ceredigion. The section includes items for children and adults.

The library also has books in English, Welsh and Polish.

Arabic speakers can access books on the library website or visit the library.
