Seren Fach Nursery, has recently completed all aspects of the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme by working with their babies, children, staff and parents to improve nutrition and oral health, physical activity, emotional health and well being, environment, safety, hygiene and staff health.

The nursery has been involved in the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme since 2012 and has received resources, training and advice.

The nursery has promoted hand hygiene, physical activity, cooking skills, healthy eating and drinking, and social skills using circle time with the children in their care.

Eleri Jones, manager, said: “Working with the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme has been of real benefit to our nursery – not only for the babies and children in our care but for us as staff and parents too – in order to improve everyone’s health and wellbeing.”

Judith Roberts, senior practitioner for Public Health Wales’ Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme in Gwynedd, added: “We are delighted that Seren Fach Nursery has completed all aspects of this health award.

“This achievement demonstrates how the Welsh Network of Healthy School Schemes is enabling Public Health Wales to work in equal partnership with nurseries to improve the future health and wellbeing of our children. By combining our efforts and assets in a purposeful way, we can create a healthier, happier and fairer Wales.”
