Children from Oasis Nursery in Barmouth put their best foot forward on Thursday, 27 June, in an animal-themed sponsored walk for Barnardo’s.

Barnardo’s Big Toddle is the UK’s biggest charity event for children under the age of five, in the form of an annual sponsored walk to raise money for the charity’s principle cause, helping to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.

Each year children dress up according to a theme and set off on sponsored walks across the country. This year the toddle took place from 24 to 30 June, and saw 45,000 children take part.

The theme of the year was animals, and children from Oasis Nursery got creative beforehand and made their own jungle-worthy headbands to wear on the walk.

They toddled, marched and strolled twice around the Wern in Barmouth, and each participant was given a medal for their efforts.

Claire Tyrrell, manager of the nursery, said: “The children loved taking part in such an amazing event, and we have already raised over £300 with more money still coming in. We are incredibly proud of our mini toddlers!”
