PUPILS across Dwyfor Meirionnydd are celebrating their GCSE results.

Covid has disrupted examinations for a second year, and grades have been awarded through teacher submitted grades, based on mock exams, course work and tests.

Gwynedd Council is among those congratulating the county’s pupils on their GCSE success.

Councillor Cemlyn Rees Williams, Cabinet member for education, said: “We are extremely proud of this year’s results and the pupils are to be congratulated for their hard work in such a difficult time.

"We want to see all our young people succeed in the future.

“I wish to thank the teachers too for their outstanding dedication during this unprecedented period.”

Garem Jackson, Gwynedd Council head of education, said: “These GCSE results really are a testament to the dedication of our young people.

“In very unusual and difficult times, our young people have achieved great success.

“Congratulations to them on their hard work and success and best wishes to them as they move into the next phase of their education or training, or into the world of work.

“I would also like to sincerely thank all the staff at the schools for their perseverance in ensuring a first-class education for the young people of Gwynedd despite all the difficulties this year.

"I appreciate the contribution of each member of the Gwynedd schools’ community.”
