Parents of pupils at Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn in Drefach have been rocked by the sudden departure of local county councillor Euros Davies as chair of governors.
Cllr Davies, who is known to have expressed his unhappiness at the standard of work on the new school’s playing field as well its sports hall, remains as governor and has declined to comment.
But the Cambrian News understands the member for Llanwenog is seeking legal advice after being reported to the Monitoring Officer by Ceredigion County Council chief executive Eifion Evans, who felt he was acting independently from the rest of his colleagues.
Matters came to a head last month when Cllr Davies was asked to stand down from his role by fellow governors.
While he refused to comment, the manner of his departure has been criticised by some parents.
One – who asked not to be identified – said they had been left ‘bewildered’ by the turn of events at the school, which opened in September 2017 following the merger of Llanwnnen, Llanwenog and Cwrtnewydd primaries.
“Euros Davies has worked hard to get the school where it is today and none of us can quite believe the way he has been treated,” he said.
