A RECORD seven students from Ysgol Bro Pedr in Lampeter were invited to exhibit their design and technology work at this year’s WJEC Innovation Awards held in the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff.
Following on from last year’s successes, Ysgol Bro Pedr’s students accounted for more than 10 per cent of the exhibition which represents the ‘Best of the Best’ GCSE, AS and A-level design and technology work from all over Wales.
Roland Griffiths, head of the school’s design and technology department, said: “We are very pleased that the department continues to go from strength to strength. We have a strong team of staff and pupils who regularly bring credit to the department and the school. Seventy per cent of our D&T pupils achieved an A* or A grade at GCSE.”
Those exhibiting at GCSE level were Twm Ebbsworth and his Bluetooth-integrated lectern, Daniel Thomas’ adaptable ergonomic lectern and Liam Morgan’s stylish portable lectern with amplified circuit and 3D printed components.
Bro Pedr’s representative at AS-level was Iwan Evans, who showcased his light stick for people with disabilities.
