HAIRDRESSING and beauty therapy students from Coleg Ceredigion have demonstrated they’re a cut above recently by achieving top positions in two prestigious hair and beauty competitions.
At the hair and beauty competition for Urdd Gobaith Cymru, at Llanbadarn Fawr, Coleg Ceredigion students secured both first and third positions in the under-25 hairdressing competitions. Chelsea Purnell secured the top prize, with fellow student Abi-Marie Grace modelling for her in the competition; while Dorota Kulacka, with her model Iona Smith, were third. Chelsea went on to secure third at the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Flintshire.
Caryl Edwards, their hair and beauty tutor, said: “The department is very proud of the high standard of work produced by our students and their success in this competition!”
At the national Salon Cymru Awards held at Y Plas, Cardiff Students Union, two Coleg Ceredigion students scooped two top prizes.
In the Avant Garde Level 2 and 3 category, Jutta Varty secured second place, while Tina Robinson achieved third in the Hair Up Level 3 category.
