All Foundation Phase pupils in Ceredigion will return to the classroom full-time by 3 March if Covid cases remain low.

Ceredigion County Council has confirmed that pupils in nursery, reception and Years 1 and 2 should be back in schools by Wednesday, 3 March following a phased return to the classroom which starts next week.

In a statement this afternoon, Ceredigion council said: “The Welsh Government announced that all Foundation Phase pupils should return to school week commencing 22 February.

"Ceredigion have taken a phased approach and all Foundation Phase pupils will have returned to site during the week 22-26 February in small groups.

"This will enable pupils to reintegrate to school and familiarise themselves with school routines.

"Week commencing 1 March Foundation Phase pupils should return in larger groups, with all Foundation Phase pupils back on site by 3 March.

"If the number of coronavirus cases in Ceredigion were to significantly increase during the week 22-26 February this proposal would be re-visited."

Elsewhere, in Powys, the council said in a statement that all learners aged three to seven will begin a "phased and flexible" return to their school/early years setting from Tuesday, 23 February, and they are aiming for all Foundation Phase learners to return by Friday, 26 February.

And in Pembrokeshire, the council said that from Tuesday, 23 February, schools will begin a phased return, and are “preparing for a full return of all Foundation Phase learners on 1 March”.
