YOUNG people from Ceredigion attended a presentation at the Senedd for finalists of various Rotary competitions.

All the competitors started out at local level, so those who competed at the district final (southern Wales) were already school and local winners.

In two of the competitions, the district winners then progressed to national finals, competing against winners from 26 districts throughout Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England.

The Ceredigion winners included Sioned Lois Price from Lampeter, who was highly commended in the Young Photographer competition; and Zoe Jarman-Davies, of Lampeter, who won the intermediate Young Photographer contest.

Zoe’s entry then progressed to the national final and was awarded second prize from all the UK and Ireland entries.

Ffion Enfys Griffiths of Ysgol Gymraeg, Aberystwyth, was joint winner (junior section) in the poem for Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

And Twm Beaufort Ebbsworth, Ysgol Bro Pedr, Lampeter, won the senior Welsh Young Writer competition.

Winners and competitors gathered to receive their certificates and prizes from Rotary District Governor Maggie Hughes.

The standard of competition received high praise from the judges.

The displayed entries were eagerly viewed by the competitors, their families and teachers.

The Rotary thanked all the competitors who took part, the teachers and families for their support and to the judges who undertook a very difficult task.

AM Elin Jones, who sponsored the event, said: “It is important that young people are given the opportunity to be creative, to explore the different talents they have, and of course to have a platform such as this for their work to be showcased and celebrated.”
