YSGOL Gyfun Emlyn’s Youth Forum was established in 2015 when Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr, the National Wool Museum and Carmarthenshire Support Services came together to work with the young people at the school to give them an opportunity to volunteer, organise and run events while using their Welsh.
To date, the hardworking group has assisted in a number of events, for example Christmas craft workshops, various fun days, the museums carol evening and so on.
Last year they decided to raise money for a good cause by organising a sponsored walk.
They raised a sum of £84 and had lots of fun on the way.
The forum decided to donate the money to Newcastle Emlyn King George V Playing Field committee, towards the cost of the park’s maintenance.
The committee which looks after the park is voluntary and does not receive any public funding and therefore has to fund raise throughout the year to keep the gates open and the equipment safe for local children.
