May I use your columns to express my gratitude to several sectors of the Ceredigion emergency services.

On Christmas Eve my CO monitor bleeped madly, so my central heating boiler must be at fault. Police 101, ambulance and fire services advisors were kind and helpful; the Lampeter firemen were outstanding and Bronglais A&E were great. The firemen asked my landlady to arrange for a plumber to visit ASAP. By the time we returned from hospital, the plumber had repaired the boiler and my heating was back on.

So I had a warm, happy Christmas and I sincerely hope so did all the lovely people who helped me.
