THE Eryri YFC AGM was held last Friday at Caernarfon Golf Club, where Miriam Williams from Godre’r Eifl was elected as chairman and Allen Wynne Owen, Beudy Glas, Criccieth elected president.
Members from all 11 clubs in Eryri gathered together to close one competing year and to open the forthcoming one. Officers reported on the year and all clubs gave a short account of their activities.
Awards were also presented to the clubs in different sections, from stock judging, public speaking, increase in membership and points accumulated.
“It was a very successful evening to end the last year off and attended by all clubs, and many friends of the movement,” said Guto Roberts retiring president. “It was a great evening and many clubs went home with trophies for their efforts during the past year.”
“It’s been a difficult year with losing the council grant,” said retiring chairman Dafydd Sion. “But all members and staff have carried on regardless, and I wish the movement all the best in the future, it’s in safe hands with the new officer team,” he added.
Also elected was vice chair Beca Glyn, Ysbyty Ifan YFC; vice president Ann Williams, Llithfaen; treasurer Elin Jones, Godre’r Eifl; and vice treasurer Glesni Jones, Dyffryn Nantlle.
Caernarfon dominated the stock judging with Bedwyr Jones, winning the under-18s cup for most points during stock judging and Robat Griffith winning the one for over-18s.
Ysbyty Ifan and Llanrwst had to share the Catherine Rhian Trophy for most points awarded in competitions from September 2017 to August 2018, while Godre’r Eifl took home the Henblas trophy for most points awarded to the smallest clubs.
