Madam,

Thankfully most dog walkers in most parts of Pwllheli make it their business to be armed with plastic bags. Sadly the one exception is Pwllheli’s North Quay, which has become the habitat of a different breed of dogwalker, who allows herds of hounds, shihtzus and other mucky pups to plague the footway with tons of trouble.

The entire length of North Quay between the railway station and Plas Heli (that handsome new edifice that commands such an imposing position in our yachting marina) is gaining notoriety on social media, where it is called “wellington walk,” Pwllheli’s “walk of shame,” “the mine field,” “vile mile” and so on. Who said that only Liverpudlians had a monopoly of wry, dry, biting wit and humour?

Unfortunately, we have to laugh at this unacceptably unhygienic situation. Enforcement officers seem to lack teeth and bite. They must stop pussy-footing and make it their business to collar the smirking culprits before serious public health problems hit the headlines.

Yours etc
