A NEW initiative organised to give the people of Tywyn access to PCSOs has been launched.
The ‘Paned with a PCSO’ (police community support officer), took place at Tywyn Library.
This initiative is being run by local neighbourhood policing teams, and offers a chance for members of the public to meet their local PCSOs and discuss any issues or concerns they may have over a cuppa.
Police community support officers Lona Davenport and Ella Parry, of Gwynedd South Neighbourhood Policing Team, attended the event at the library, together with Gwynedd councillor for Tywyn, Anne Lloyd-Jones, and clerk of Aberdyfi community council, Sandy Andrews.
Cllr Lloyd-Jones said of the event: “It was a pleasure to meet with PCSOs Lona and Ella in the library when they held their ‘meet the public’ session.
“This was the first of what we hope to be regular meetings with our local PCSOs. These they hope to do on an informal basis once a month when members of the public can pop in to have a chat with them about issues that concern them.”
She added: “The meeting today was very successful and some of the concerns discussed were policing in the area; CCTV, parking on pavements and vandalism in certain areas.
“Both Lona and Ella were very helpful and open in their replies to us. I would encourage any member of the public to go along to their sessions for a chat.”
The PCSO’s hope to hold regular meetings for the public and they will be well advertised in advance.
They are also willing to attend any community events that are taking place in the area if organisers would like to invite them.
