TV presenter Mari Grug will release an English language version of her autobiography.
The announcement following Mari’s recent success at BAFTA Cymru, winning the award for Best Presenter 2026 for her documentary ‘Mari Grug: Un Dydd ar y Tro’ (‘Mari Grug: One Day at a Time’).
Y Lolfa will publish her English-language autobiography in autumn 2027.
In 2023, the then 38-year-old TV presenter Mari Grug was diagnosed with breast cancer which had spread to her lymph nodes and liver.
Palliative care was mentioned very quickly. Mari has had a double mastectomy and is classified as stage 4, but continues to fight for treatment to live as long as possible for her three young children.
The former Ysgol y Preseli Crymych pupil is well-known for her journalism and broadcasting work on TV and radio. Her podcast on BBC Radio Cymru won the award for Best Welsh Podcast at the British Podcast Awards in October 2025. The title, 1 mewn 2 (1 in 2) refers to the shocking statistic that half the people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives, with 1 in 7 UK women suffering breast cancer.
In October 2025, Mari published a Welsh-language autobiography, ‘Dal i Fod yn Fi’, which has sold almost 3,000 copies.
In the English-language version, ‘I’m Still Me’, Mari will give a searingly honest account of living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, with an update on her story since the Welsh book came out.
Mari hopes that sharing her story openly and honestly will help others with cancer and spread an important message of staying positive.
She said: “My aim is to give hope and confidence to other people living with stage 4 cancer and to show, although difficult at times, that it is possible to life a full life.”
