An Aberystwyth veteran has walked up Pen-y-Fan blindfolded as part of a group raising money for Blind Veterans UK.
Colin Jones, who is the Ceredigion Armed Forces Hub Peer Mentor, joined a group on New Year’s Eve who walked up Pen-y-Fan while blindfolded as part of fundraising efforts.
It is the latest in a series of events which will see an attempt to establish the record for the most blindfolded walkers to ascend Snowdon in June this year, and culminate in a 47-mile walk between Llandudno and Wrexham.
Colin, who was backed by a team from Aberystwyth during the Pen-y-Fan ascent, said there was still the opportunity for people to take part in the June event.
He said: “On 20 June we aim to embark on an ambitious fundraising challenge that requires the support of the public as we aim to try and establish the record for the most blindfolded walkers to ascend Snowdon.
“Volunteers would be asked to arrive in their pairs as one member of the paired team would be asked to be blindfolded and the other would act as his or her guide.”
