Three women have been appointed as trustees to the National Library of Wales board.

Meri Huws, vice president of the library, has announced the names of new trustees appointed to board following open competition.

Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Dr Elin Royles and Dr Anwen Jones will begin their duties on 1 March for a period of four years.

Ms Huws said: “The library is pleased to have successfully appointed excellent individuals as trustees and to serve on the library’s board.

“They are not strangers to the library and I know that they, like me, are eager to see the library not only continuing to deliver its core services but also to look for opportunities to increase the impact of our services and further benefit our communities, as well as being innovative in relevant fields in a world which is constantly changing.

“We are eager to see the library making a constructive contribution to the life of the nation during the coming years. Looking to the past is all well and good, however we must also look to the future and create benefits for future generations.”

Pedr ap Llwyd, chief executive and librarian, added: “I’m extremely pleased that the board of trustees have appointed three exceptional individuals as trustees and to serve on the library’s board. The three new members will offer a wide range of experiences and competencies to enrich the board’s membership.”
