A ‘faint rumbling’ noise like the sound of an aeroplane has been confirmed as an earthquake.

Felt by a single household in Cym-y-glo, the British Geolical Survey (BGS) said they received reports of “faint rumbling like a distant military jet...felt through bare feet on concrete floor” just before 8.30am on Sunday, 18 September.

BGS that the earthquake near Porthmadog had a magnitude of 1.5 and was felt at a depth of 7km.

It follows another earthquake in Gwynedd last month.

On 15 August, at 10.21am, an earthquake with a magnitude of 0.9 and a depth of 9km was recorded at Llanaelhaern.
