THE family of a “creative”, “magnetic” and “beautiful” 20-year-old Aberystwyth man have described the trauma he endured before being found dead last month.
Kyran Bird, known as Ky, a former Penglais School pupil who worked for his father Paul Bird, owner of Skyline Roofing and Building, was found dead at their Capel Dewi home on Friday, 20 October.
Kyran would have been 21 years old last Friday, with his family combining a celebration of his birthday with his funeral.
Speaking to the Cambrian News this week, Paul and his daughter, Kyran’s sister Jasmine, said Kyran had been “through so much so young” after the loss of his mum, Michelle, who died aged just 44 following a battle with cancer, in October 2014.
In a cruel twist, just months later Kyran witnessed the death of his “favourite uncle”, 51-year-old Shane Galliers, who was dragged out to sea in Cornwall while scattering Michelle’s ashes.
“It’s just not fair for anyone to expect someone to go through what he went through and come through it unscathed,” said Jasmine.
“He went through so much so young in such a short space of time. It just closed in on him. He was so strong, so brave, so beautiful.
“I am of the mindset where I don’t blame him for the decision.”
