THE family of a three-year-old boy who died in a caravan fire which also left his older brother in a critical condition have thanked the local community for their support.

Three-year-old Zac (pictured left) died in a caravan fire in the early hours of Sunday morning in Ffair Rhos near Pontrhydfendigaid.

The blaze also left his four-year-old brother, Harley, in a critical condition and his father also remains in hospital.

In a short statement this afternoon, the family said: "We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support.

"We thank you for respecting our future privacy as we mourn the loss of Zac and focus on our son Harley who is still critical.”

Police officers have been on the scene all day on Monday and a spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is continuing to investigate the circumstances around a fire at a caravan in Ffair Rhos, Ceredigion early Sunday morning, 19 January, 2020 in which a three-year-old boy sadly died.

"The father and a 4-year-old child remain in hospital.

"Specialist officers are supporting the family at this traumatic time.

"Police and Fire investigators continue to examine the scene though the circumstances are not currently being treated as suspicious.

"Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the Ffair Rhos area around the time of the fire, who might have information that could help the investigation.

"Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, using Storm reference 39 of January 19.”
