A PONTRHYDFENDIGAID family judged as having the most extreme school-run in the UK have become the first people in the country to try out a new SUV.

The Jones family were chosen by Škoda as having the most difficult school-run, with William and Sarah Jones battling through fallen trees, flooding, ice and even livestock to get nine-year-old Ifan and Esme, seven, to Ysgol Pontrhydfendigaid.

Sarah said that the family faced the unexpected on a regular basis.

She said: “Every day when we wake up we don’t know what we’re going to come up against on our school-run, which is part of the fun of living up here really. We could take our horse Willow, but a 4x4 makes things so much easier.”

As part of Škoda’s search for the family with the most extreme school-run, they offered the chance to try out the new Kodiaq SUV, which is not available until 2017, with the Jones family getting to drive the vehicle for a day, the first people in the country to experience it.

That testing was needed as the Jones family put it through its paces on a wet and windy day in Pontrhydfendigaid.
