A family from Bryncrug have completed the Three Peaks challenge in 20 hours, as part of their mission to raise money for mental health charity Mind.

On Saturday, 3 August, Stewart Langston and his sons Myles, 22, and Duncan, 20, embarked on the Three Peaks Challenge, with the aim of completing all three peaks in 24 hours.

As part of the challenge they climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales.

The trio were joined and driven from peak to peak by mum Kay, who said the challenge was a “fantastic family adventure.”

They were well within the given time limit, completing the challenge in 20 hours, 55 minutes and 35 seconds and making the journey up and down each peak in around three hours.

The family has raised over £1,000 for the charity Mind, which offers information, advice and support to those affected by mental health issues.

“They chose the charity because they wanted to raise money and awareness surrounding mental health.

“We decided to raise money for Mind because we have all been affected by mental health problems either directly or indirectly.

“Although the trend is changing there is still a stigma attached to mental health issues and people suffering do not always seek help.

“We hope by supporting Mind we can raise more awareness of this all too common illness.”

“We would like to thank everyone for their words of support, encouragement and who have sponsored us”, Kay added.
