A football team in Meirionnydd is offering the public an opportunity sponsor one of its 100 new seats.

To help with the up-keep of the club, Dolgellau Athletic FC is giving fans a chance to sponsor one of the 100 new seats which are to be installed in the club’s stadium at Marine Fields.

A seat can be sponsored for life, and the sponsor will have a personalised plaque on the seat.

In October 2019, the club received a £15,000 grant from Sport Wales.

This was half the funding needed to make improvements to the stadium.

Since then, a perimeter fence and new goalposts have been added.

Commenting on the fence, a spokesperson for the club said: “We feel the fencing will also encourage people to come in and enjoy the stand and create more of an atmosphere and a spectacle for each game.”

The next stage of the development will be the installation of the new seats.

The spokesperson added: “Fifty-six are on order to comply for tier three and a further 44 will be achieved for the season after.

“We’re offering anyone a seat for life which includes a personalised plaque.

“Between the seats and the fencing and new goals, we believe it will really put a good light on what can be achieved by a strong hard working committee.”
