Madam,
On behalf of the Aberystwyth branch of The Royal British Legion, may I once again through your newspaper take this opportunity to thank the people and business community of Aberystwyth for their continued support of The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Due to their fantastic generosity and goodwill, to date, the 2016 Appeal has realised the sum of £26,000 which has helped the Aberystwyth RBL branch raise a staggering £116,000 in the last four years.
The Poppy Appeal is the major single source of revenue for The Royal British Legion’s Benevolent fund. Each year more service and ex-service personnel or their families, in crisis, turn to The Royal British Legion for help and the cost of that help is continually increasing.
As I am sure you are aware, our servicemen and women are deployed to duties in many parts of the world, often exposed to considerable danger and sadly in some cases experience injury, trauma or loss of life.
This means there will always be a need to provide help either directly to the injured service personnel or to their dependents. That is why it is so vitally important that The Royal British Legion is able to continue its work and with the continued support of the Aberystwyth community its future can be assured.
Therefore please accept the heartfelt thanks and gratitude of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal for all your support which I am confident will continue for many years to come
Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb am eu cefnogaeth.
Yours etc,
David Ebenezer, Aberystwyth Poppy Appeal organiser.
