FATHER Christmas ceremoniously surfed his way into Barmouth last week to provide spectators with a yuletide treat.
On Tuesday, 20 December, jolly old Saint Nick ditched his famous sleigh for something a little more modern.
Whilst Barmouth’s Davy Jones’ Locker Café held its popular carol service, proceedings were interrupted by bells and shouts of ‘ho ho ho’.
Peering out into the surf, carollers were able to witness Father Christmas being whisked in to the shore on a stand up paddleboard, being pulled along by his reindeer.
The festive spectacle was arranged by local residents Russ Courtney and Kirsty Jones, who recently set up SUP Barmouth, a Stand Up Paddleboard school located at the Merioneth Yacht Club.
They organised the Christmas treat to thank those who supported them throughout their maiden year and to add to the coffers of this year’s charity carol service, supporting the Alaw Ward Cancer Unit.
Kirsty Jones, one of the event organisers, said: “It was so lovely to see such a big turn out on such a wild, wet night, and the kids were so excited that it felt really magical."
