HAVING weathered rough seas and calm waters over the past five decades, the Teifi Boating Club celebrates over 50 years of boating activity in Cardigan when a film depicting activities on the River Teifi from the 1800s to the present is premiered at the club on Thursday, 15 September.

The film, produced by Lena Strang, shows the remarkable efforts of pioneerering boating enthusiasts to establish what is now the Teifi Boating Club.

It includes amusing interviews with the early members, including four-time Formula One Powerboat world champion Jonathan Jones, who traces his roots back to the boating club.

It also charts current activities at the club as well as beautiful images of Cardigan Bay and some original film footage.

Club stalwart Martyn O’Connor said the film contains “a wealth of historic pride”.

It also includes interviews with the current commodore Tony Duckworth, sole remaining  founder member Gareth ‘Foxy’ Williams, Gareth Jerman, Mike Powney, Harry Jenkins, Ian Carswell as well as talented young sailor Tom Renny.
