CEREDIGION AM Elin Jones has called on Hywel Dda Health Board to make public the findings of a review into the safety of its buildings in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

A spokesperson for the health board said it had completed an “urgent review” of its buildings and reported the findings to the Welsh Government.

But the Plaid Cymru AM and Welsh Assembly presiding officer said she was “disturbed” to discover the health board was refusing to make the findings public.

Joe Teape, director of operations for Hywel Dda Health Board, said: “We have undertaken an urgent review of all our buildings with cladding as part of our estates fire risk assessment.

“In line with those findings, we are reviewing our fire safety procedures and reporting fully to Welsh Government.”

Speaking to the Cambrian News this week, Ms Jones said: “All public bodies need to be wholly open about cladding — so that residents, workers and patients are fully aware of the risks involved.

“I’m particularly disturbed that Hywel Dda Health Board is not releasing its findings publicly and it should do so immediately.”

Tai Ceredigion housing association confirmed to the Cambrian News that independent testing had already taken place and that materials were found to be “non-combustible”.
