PORTMEIRION’S Food and Craft Fair, which came to a spectacular end last Sunday has announced its highest ever visitor numbers.

The Italianate Village’s annual Christmas event attracted more than 7,500 people across three days.

Showcasing the best of local products and entertainment, footfall doubled from last year.

The festival featured more than 120 artisan stalls, cooking demonstrations from local chefs, live music, craft workshops and Santa’s train.

“This was a huge hit, not only for us, but also our guests and stall holders,” said Gwynedd Roberts, Portmeirion’s estate manager and food festival organiser.

“People loved the variety of experiences, from sampling local food to listening to traditional Welsh music. Of course, the dry weather also helped boost visitor numbers to Portmeirion this weekend.”

Stall holder Deiniol ap Dafydd, owner of Blas ar Fwyd in Llanrwst, said that coming to the event always raised a smile.

“It’s a fantastic, festive atmosphere,” he said, pointing at twinkling stalls with stunning views of the Dwyryd Estuary in the background."
